Meet Julia

JD Music Agency was started by Julia, who has worked in New York music for 13 years as a performer, producer and contractor.

She studied at Columbia University, The Juilliard School and the CUNY Graduate Center. She has performed at Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall, Central Park SummerStage, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and is co-artistic director of Sonora Collective, a nonprofit musicians' collective and concert series.

She has contracted musicians for Jon Batiste, Vic Mensa and Yandel, for fashion designers Sienna Li and Minika Ko, and for recording sessions at Electric Lady Studios and Power Station for Lexicon Classics and Verve Records. She works closely with music directors, arrangers, sound engineers and production teams, and often helps clients plan the program.

How It Started

Our story

After years of hiring musicians for artists, venues and her own concert series, Julia started JD Music Agency to give clients one person they could trust to put the right group together, and to make sure the musicians she works with are treated and paid well.

Our Mission

Great musicians, treated well

We connect people with the right musicians for their project, whether that's a wedding ceremony or a sold-out concert, and we make sure those musicians are respected and paid fairly.

Our players come from many backgrounds. Some trained at conservatories like Juilliard, New England Conservatory, Mannes and Manhattan School of Music. Others come from jazz, hip-hop, Latin and pop. We work with Local 802, New York's musicians' union, on union projects.
